KEEPING AN INDOOR KITTY HAPPY

Cats are independent animals who like have their space.

Most kitties like to explore the world and roam around freely. However, having an outdoor cat is kind of risky as your kitty may pick up some diseases along the way and get sick.

Did you know that indoor cats have a comparatively longer lifespan?

In this blog post, I will go through some ways in which you can keep your indoor cat happy and fulfilled.

HERE'S HOW TO KEEP YOUR INDOOR CAT HAPPY

In this section of the blog, I would like to jump right into the topic and hand and share some secrets to keeping your indoor kitty happy.

Let’s begin.

TOYS ARE FUN

Cats love to play, so, you should buy your kitty some toys to play with!

There are a lot of toys that meet the needs of an indoor kitty such as those for for batting around, chasing and to hide inside, etc.

There are also toys that both people and their cats can enjoy together!

These include food puzzles, laser pointers etc. And, you can also buy catnip-infused toys on the market for that extra kick.

SCRATCHING SURFACES = HAPPY KITTY

Cats love to scratch.

It is a weird yet natural behavior to mark their territory while keeping their claws in shape and stretching their bodies. You can help keep your kitty from shredding your furniture by buying him some scratching surfaces.

LET 'EM HUNT

Do you think your cat likes being serves everything on a silver platter?

Well, her attitude may say yes, but her hunting instincts may feel otherwise. Cats are predatory by nature, so help your kitty fulfill these hunting fantasies by providing her with prey-like toys.

Trust me, cats playing with these toys is extremely entertaining and YouTube-worthy!

GIVE HER SOME SPACE

You cat needs some space to herself where she can feel safe.

So, you should try to create a resting or alone spot for your cat at your house so that she can have her privacy. Ensure that this spot is free from children and other pets! Cats like their space and privacy.

Having her own little corner in your house will help make her feel safe and secure, while also fostering her strong sense of independence.

It doesn't have to be elaborate!

In fact, a crate makes an awesome resting spot. You can also provide your kitty with an elevated perch so she can feel safe as she looks down on her surroundings.

LET’S GO FOR A WALK!?

Do you feel that your kitty needs some time outdoors?

Well, there’s one way you can give that to her without worrying frantically. You can train your cat to walk on the leash and take her out on a walk! Yes, just like a dog. While it is relatively uncommon to see cats on a leash, it isn’t an impossibility.

In fact, I take my indoor kitty out on a walk, too!

And, she loves every bit of it.

However, before taking your kitty out on a walk, check with your veterinarian to see if your cat needs additional vaccinations or parasite control.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE VERTICAL SPACE

How do cats live in the wild?

They like to climb on trees and find the weirdest spots to sit around in. I once saw a cat sitting on the top of a pole and I, still to this date, have no clue as to how she got up there or got off!

Yes. She did get off, though.

Cars like to be in higher places so that they can keep a close eye on their territory. You can mimic these conditions by simply moving furniture around or by investing in window perches, cat trees, and climbing systems!

This will definitely make your cat a bit happier.

AFFECTION MATTERS...SOMETIMES

Cats need affection.

It is crucial to ensure that you and your kitty get a lot of one-on-one time as it is what makes your kitty truly happy on the inside. Make sure that you play with your cat, groom her, and just chill with her.

Cats are happy when you spend time with them.
